This weekend has been a joy-filled blur of activity and I am just now sitting down to reflect on everything that has happened. Yesterday [June 20, 2020] I, along with four of my brothers, was ordained a deacon by my bishop marking the culmination of five years of seminary formation, prayer and discernment. There have been many beautiful moments but to be able to serve at Mass today, as deacon, with the priest whom I used to serve Mass for when I was a little boy was an amazing gift. As I proclaimed the Gospel and preached I was able to look out and see not only my family but also many faces that I recognized from growing up in the parish. I look forward to the next year as I complete my studies for the priesthood and serve as deacon, preaching the Gospel and serving at the altar.
