With final exams and papers behind us, the Saint John’s Seminary community has dispersed for the Christmas break. As we take this time to rest and celebrate the holidays with loved ones, today’s Feast of the Holy Family invites us to reflect on the sacred bond shared by Jesus, Mary, and Joseph.
The celebration of Christmas reminds us that Jesus, God-with-us, has entered into every aspect of human life and sanctified it. As human beings, we are not isolated individuals. Each of us is born into a family, shaped by the relationships and identities we inherit and cultivate with others. In the Incarnation, God has made family life holy by embracing it Himself. The Son of God became the Son of Mary, exchanging the throne of heaven for the humble arms of the Virgin, all under the care and protection of St. Joseph.
In today’s Mass, we pray for the grace to imitate the Holy Family by “practicing the virtues of family life and living in the bonds of charity.” Saint John’s Seminary asks God to bless your family abundantly this Christmas season and throughout the New Year. Thank you for your continued support of our mission to form and educate future parish priests. Wishing you a joyful Christmas and a blessed New Year!
