This year marks the 60th anniversary of October 11th, 1962, the day on which Pope St. John XXIII solemnly opened the Second Vatican Council. One of the key goals of the Council was the re-establishment of visible unity among Christians. This webinar will look back at Vatican II’s vision for ecumenism and examine it in light of the Church’s experience over the past six decades.

Fr. Joseph Thomas

serves as chaplain of Mercer House in Princeton, New Jersey. He is the editor of Church and Communion: An Introduction to Ecumenical Theology, by his dissertation director Philip Goyret, forthcoming from The Catholic University of America Press. As part of his work of teaching theology to laypersons, he has written some other introductory books, most recently Salvation Theology: An Introduction to Soteriology, from Scepter Publishers.
